The set up and rehearsal
After four long months of intense competition, the grand final of SPOP Sing! had come at last. Everything had to be perfect for the nation-wide anticipated event of 4th November. The Padang had to be transformed under the most unimaginable circumstances. The site was huge and difficult to set up, and daily rain merely worsened the situation, for it dampened everything except the team’s spirits. The team worked hard despite all difficulties and the set up was successfully completed in time for the rehearsal! View the video to see the process of setting up.
The Set Design
The stage was designed by Art Director Tay Siu Whye. She was tasked to fill the stage with gigantic LED lighting, incorporate an enlarged version of the “egg” (which symbolises the incubation of young talent), and to spread out the activities across the whole Padang.
The Costume Design
The creative mind behind the costumes of the competitors is none other than Image Stylist Annie Chua. She has designed four sets of costumes for each of the four competitors, but only two of the four will have the chance to show off all four costumes. The other two would be eliminated after the first and second rounds in the night. Besides the four finalists, Annie has also prepared more than a hundred sets of wardrobe outfits for the whole show.
