Yuan Xiao Jie (元宵节), also known as Spring Lantern Festival, is a Chinese festival celebrated on the fifteen day of the first month in the Lunar calendar. It marks the final day of the traditional Chinese New Year celebrations.
This year, Mediacorp's Content Group celebrated Yuan Xiao Jie in a big way. We had a lunch party at MES Theatre Foyer, filled with new year goodies, sumptuous food and attractive prizes! Together with the God of Fortune (财神爷), the comperes kept the mood of the event lively and entertaining. The occasion was also graced by our mascot for the Year of the Dog, Agogo and his sister Ameimei. Without the hard work of the working committee, this event would not have been possible.
Watch the video above to see what happened at our lunch party!
The wonderful celebratory decorations were done by our Senior Set Designer, Christine Ayu. She designed and decorated the whole place solely by using recycled items from our props warehouse. It definitely brought the festive spirit out in all of us!
Who's The winner?
The winner of day was neither Agogo nor the God of Fortune, but our colleague from Production Resource - Lily Tan. She won the grand prize in our lucky draw! Congratulations Lily!
All in all, it was simple and cheerful get together. Most importantly, our whole family had the opportunity to celebrate the festivities together and Lou Hei for good fortune.
The video was produced by Tay Tong Lam, our multi-talented Studio Field Assistant from Props Support Unit.
